Saturday, July 19th, the Bednars had a wonderful Crab Fest Picnic. The entire family went to play, talk, eat, and enjoy the pool. At the pool were 2 little girls about 3-4 years old who were swimming by themselves. Once Alex was in the pool with his swimmies, he wanted nothing to do with me and declared his independence. He swam away and went after the girls. It was a nice time :)
Sunday, July 20th, Alex and I traveled to Fairfield to sign paperwork and allow Pat time to study for the Bar. That evening, Abuelos had a church softball picnic. Alex had a blast running around, swimming, and playing in the rain. In the pool, Alex swam by himself and played with Logan a 6 year old boy. At the end of the picnic, there was a storm and both boys ran in circles very excited about the rain.
Monday, July 21st, Abuela watched Alex and I went to Hagerstown to sign paperwork. While there I was hit with surprise blows. 1, I would need to come in Wednesday to sign additional paperwork. 2, I was required to attend a New Teacher Academy Aug. 4-7th and 12-13th. 3, All teachers start on August 14th and students start on August 20th. Pat also contacted the landlord and found out that they will not let us out of the lease. So we will be payign this rent until October. Thankfully, Abuelos agreed to house us!
Tuesday, July 22nd, we visited Mammaw in the morning (see previous blog) and in the evening, we visited Magnee and Pap. At Magnee and Pap's, Alex got his first experience of Noggin' and Max and Ruby, explored Magnee's garden, played with weed wacker, snow blower, and lawn mower, and dug with 2 shovels.
Wednesday, July 23rd, Abuela watched Alex again as I sat through 2 hours of benefit information in Hagerstown. That evening, we all went to the Fairfield Firehouse.
Thursday, July 24th, we said goodbye to Abuelos and Mammaw and got boxes from El Vista. Alex and I visited a daycare, Children's 1st Academy, in Boonsboro that has an opening for Alex. Afterwards, Alex and I drove around Baltimore to home. Alex refused to sleep and had a few tantrum on the way... but we finally got home after 2.5 hours. Once we got home, Pat and I unloaded and started changing addresses on credit cards, cars, bank, investments, and every other bill. Are we forgetting anything?
Overall, a very busy time for the Carrs!

Slacking
I realized today that Sunday, I started to update this site but never finished..oppps!So Saturday, Pat, Alex, and I visited the zoo. We went early and enjoyed having the zoo to ourselves (to some extent). Alex's favorite animal that day was the Peacock. There was one near the Penn house and Alex enjoyed talking to it. I don't know if it was due to Alex's chatter, but the bird would call to Alex and then opened up his feathers (check out the web album!). After the peacock and the polar bears, of course, we went to the children's area. There Alex took his first pony ride. He looked miserable riding but wanted back on as soon as he got off. Luckily it was cleaning time with the goat and Alex got to brush the goats. After a lot of hand washing, we had a small picnic near the pond. Alex did really well eating with all the distractions and then started to feed the geese his pretzels. On our way out of the park, we stopped in the small mammal area and saw a 2 toed sloth and then watched the tortoise labor around their area. Thankfully Alex was exhausted and fell asleep on the ride home
After Alex's nap, he and I visited Mimi and went to the pool while Pat studied. Alex loved the water and enjoyed showing Mimi how to play Humpty Dumpty. I believe a good time was had by all :) That nite, Alex went to slepe very easily!Sunday... Alex and I were exhausted. Pat and Alex went to Mimi's to clean up stuff from her basement (5 year old stuff) and then we all just relaxed.

Mimi's Pool
This afternoon, after Alex's nap, we decided to go to Mimi's pool to cool off.
Alex LOVED the water and quickly jumped in the baby pool. Then after a while he wanted in the big kids pool. We got his swimmies on and in he went. He enjoyed kicking, splashing, and playing Humpty Dumpty falling into the water. It was a good 2 hours trip and will hopefully leave him tired and ready for bed tonight :)

Time at Fairfield
This weekend has been busy!
After arriving safely on Friday nite, Saturday morning we visited Mammaw and I got my grading done. Then in the afternoon, we ran some errands and went to Erin Overholtzer-Rose's wedding reception. Alex had a blast! There were bubbles, kids to play with and dancing. Shannon Long also had her daughter there, Olivia (3 weeks). Alex was VERY jealous when I help Olivia. But kept trying to feed her his supper. He was a very busy boy!
On Sunday, Alex had an active morning of chasing Copper and then getting his picture taken with the family. After being VERY good, he got to jump in the pool with the Abuelos. Later that evening, we helped celebrate Uncle Steve's 50th Birthday. Alex got to see a lot of family and meet the newest member, Dawson Mickey (1 week old).
Monday and Tuesday were a bit calmer. Alex got to see visit Abuela's friend Sarah and Magnee, chase Copper, play in the pool and Carroll Valley Park, and eat LOTS of peaches.
As soon as Temple's Server is up, the website should be updated with the new pictures :)

The Weekend
This past weekend at Fairfield was very busy. We left Aston at 9am on Friday. From here we went to Mimi's park to try to tire Alex out. Thankfully it worked and he slept all the on the Turnpike and most of Rt 15. Then we hit McDonald's and then saw the Abuelos. At the Abuelos, Alex got to swing on the new swing and was moved to the "guest" room. Needless to say, Alex was not impressed with the new room and screamed almost every night.
On Saturday, Alex and I helped out Magnee and Pap at the New Oxford Market. Alex kept Magnee and Pap busy and in smiles, waving to all the cars and birds. In the afternoon, Alex played with Abuelo and we went to a Party at Alicia Duff's. We had a great time and were able to talk and catch up with a few people. Once we got back, Alex played with the Abuelos before heading to bed.
On Sunday, Everyone went to the Gettysburg Amphitheater for church. Alex was not interested in sitting and explored with Abuela. After the service, we all went to Friendly's were Alex woofed down sausage and home fries. Following a nap and some food, Alex played outside under the watchful eyes of the Abuelos and Mammaw. He loves being outside
and chasing Copper (puppy) around the yard. When Mammaw went to visit Aunt Janet , Alex, Abuelos and I jumped in the pool. This was Alex's first time in the pool this year. He loved it! He especially enjoyed splashing around. The last activity was after dinner, when we went to Mammaw's for dessert. Again, Alex loved playing outside and exploring EVERYTHING.
On Monday, Alex was a crankbutt. We were packed and ready to leave at 9:45am. We went to visit Magnee to say goodbye to her and Abuelos. Alex slept fairly well on the ride home but was very unhappy once he woke up. Nothing seemed to please him until 6pm when the tylenol kicked in. Needless to say, he and I were asleep at 7pm.
